Twin-faced sheepskin or suede UGG boots and UGG slippers need
care and attention to keep them looking stylish and comfortable for
many years. UGGs such as the
UGG Classic Tall Women's Boots (see below for more examples) need periodic cleaning using a
sheepskin cleaner
and conditioner and treatment with a quality
water and stain repellent for them to stay looking their best for many years.
You can purchase these items individually or find them in the
UGG
Care Kit which contains the sheepskin water and stain repellent,
cleaner and conditioner, freshener and suede brush with cleaning
block.
Remove mud and loose dirt from your UGG boots or UGG slippers with a soft bristled suede brush.
Brush up and down the shaft of the boot and brush the entire length from toe to heel.
If after trying this you feel they need a deeper cleaning:
Items You Will Need on Hand:
- UGG Sheepskin Cleaner and Conditioner.
- A soft bristle suede brush similar to a shoe brush.
- Paper towels.
- A place to put your UGG boots and UGG slippers as they dry. Do not place in direct sunlight.
Cleaning
- Hand wash them. Do not machine wash as this can tear them apart.
- Moisten (do not soak) only the outside of your UGG boots or UGG slippers with cold water.
- Dilute a small amount of sheepskin cleaner with water using 1/2 water and 1/2 cleaner. In a pinch dishwashing liquid or baby shampoo can be used as a cleaner but they will not condition the leather.
- Apply a small amount of diluted cleaner to a clean wet sponge. Don't apply directly to your UGGs.
- Gently rub your UGGs thoroughly and evenly. Don't scrub hard as UGG boots and UGG slippers have a delicate nap that can be scrubbed off.
- Rinse your UGGs clean with cold water. A kitchen sprayer works great. Darker colors will bleed a lot of excess dye but this will not fade the boot. You will not be able to wash all of the excess dye out, just make sure you rinse out all of the soap.
- Reshape your UGGs by lightly stuffing with paper towels.
- Allow them to dry naturally. Do not put your UGG boots or UGG slippers in the sun or near any heat source.
- When your UGGs are dry, brush them with your soft suede brush to raise the nap back up.
- See Treating Your UGGs with Water and Stain Repellent for directions on treating them after they dry.
- UGG boots and UGG slippers are delicate and not all stains can be removed or prevented.
Any twin-faced sheepskin or suede UGG boots or UGG slippers should be cleaned in this way. If you are not sure if your UGG boots or UGG slippers should be cleaned this way, call or email
