Twin-faced sheepskin or suede UGG boots and UGG slippers are not water and stain repellent like your typical smooth leather shoes and boots.
Before wearing for the first time or after washing UGGs such as the
UGG Classic Tall Women's Boots (see below for more examples) need to be treated to prevent stains and water spotting. See
Cleaning Your UGGs if you need to clean your UGG boots or UGG slippers before treating them.
UGG Australia makes a great water and stain repellent that is easy to use
and works well on sheepskin and suede products. You may purchase the
UGG Water and Stain Repellent
individually or as part of the
UGG
Care Kit which also contains sheepskin cleaner/conditioner,
freshener and suede brush with cleaning block.
Things that you will need on hand:
Now that you have everything ready, you are ready to apply the water and stain repellent:
- Shake the container very well.
- Apply in a well ventilated area or outdoors.
- Spray your UGG boots or UGG slippers with UGG
Water and Stain Repellent evenly until the surface appears wet, but not soaked. Do not over apply.
- Let dry naturally for at least 24 hours.
- After they dry, brush them with the soft bristled brush in one direction.
Depending on how often you wear your
UGG boots you will need to spray them a few times during the winter
season. If you see the leather darken when water gets on it, it's
time to spray them again. With proper care, your UGGs will last
longer but we can't guarantee that water and stain repellent will
prevent all stains from occurring.
Any twin-faced sheepskin or suede UGG boots or UGG slippers should be treated before wearing. If you are not sure if your UGG boots or UGG slippers need to be
treated, call or email
Snow
River for assistance. Some examples of UGGs that should be treated are:
