Got UGG Sandals?

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

The UGG sandals are in stores now and I’ve already bought a pair of slides called the UGG Laylana. They’re from the Surf Collection and feature that cushy insole with a sole you can walk in all day long. I’m planning on being in Cocoa Beach, Florida the end of June this year to watch the last space shuttle launch of  the Atlantis, so sandals are a must.  In addition to the Laylana, another pair of UGGs sandals will be along for the ride:  I always travel with my UGG Fluffies. You know, the flip-flops lined in sheepskin.

I considered getting the UGG Sefina, which has a toe post and a back strap with a buckle, but wanted a slide because I’m too lazy to buckle a sandal. And did I already tell you I absolutely love all the shoes, boots and sandals from the UGG Surf Collection because they have the most comfortable insoles and soles.

It’s been a long, gray winter (as usual) in the middle- of-nowhere, North, Idaho where I live.  So I can remain excited about sandals for months because I associate them with the sun and warmth that’s gonna be here eventually. Now where the heck did I put my Tan Towelettes?

One UGG Boot Done Three Ways

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

Did you know that the UGG Metropolitan Collection has one style of UGG boots done in three different heights? This was news to me when I noticed it but it certainly made sense. The UGGs in this collection are the UGG Roslynn boots, UGG Kenly boots and UGG Greenfield boots. These boots feature UGG’s trademarked Silkee Suede uppers that are already Scotchgard treated for you. That’s like adding some some winterizing to your boots. BUT – you should still spray your suede boots with UGG Water and Stain Repellent regularly.  The three UGG boots I’m highlighting here are simple, sleek and sophisticated flat boots with full sheepskin linings. There’s an inside zipper for easy on and off and they come in four good colors: black, chestnut, espresso and gray.  The gray is one of the prettiest gray colors that UGG has done in a long time.  That is, if you don’t count the terrific charcoal grays in the Cardy line.

UGG Roslynn is the short boot in this collection.  It’s shaft height is 8″. Perfect under pants.

The mid height boot  is called the UGG Kenly.  It’s shaft height is about 12 1/2″. Good with pants and skirts.

The last and tallest boot in the UGG Metropolitan collection is the UGG Greenfield.  It measures 14 1/4″ tall. Great with skirts and leggings.

With the Metropolitan Collection, UGG® continually strives to create fun fashion forward styles each season. The results of this dedication to excellence are showcased in this collection. This collection features a wide range of styles that hone in on fresh, young, fashion forward designs. The boots of this collection emulate true UGG® design and craftsmanship while maintaining casual elegance.

Jessica Simpson Rocks Adirondack UGG Boots in NYC

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

I was so happy to see someone of note, Jessica Simpson, wearing the UGG Adirondack Tall Boots. These have always been my UGG boots of choice for the dead of winter up here in North Idaho. For many reasons, the first being that’s it’s practically bullet-proof , with comfort and warmth right behind. When I say “bullet-proof”, I don’t mean it will literally stop bullets, but that for UGG boots, this one is so sturdy you can wear it hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Then shopping in NYC. It’s waterproof, sturdy and warm so it’s a great choice for the ultimate hard-core winter boot. Of course, NYC in winter can get a bit wet and slippery so it was still a good choice for Jessica Simpson.  And it goes perfectly with her fabulous LV bag!  In my dreams it’s really my fab bag and I’m just letting Jessica borrow it.

The UGG Adirondack Tall boot is about 13″ tall and has a sturdy Vibram© sole with great traction. It’s fully lined in fleece and has that darling cuff which makes it girly. And its Event® lining keeps water out but breathes to keep your feet dry.

Real Men Wear UGGs Too!

Friday, October 22nd, 2010

Should men wear UGG boots? Yes, yes and more yes! UGGs are generally viewed as a girl thing, BUT trust me on this, once men try them, they absolutely love their UGG boots and UGG slippers every bit as much as us girls do. NO – UGG boots on men are not gay. They are supremely comfortable and the ultimate casual for men who are sure of themselves. I love men in UGGs almost as much as I love men in uniforms. Especially pirate uniforms — umm, maybe that’s not a uniform and a different subject. OK. Back to UGG boots for men.

Of course, men have loved UGG slippers for years.  My father-in-law gets a new pair of UGG Ascot slippers every year.  But because he wears them in the house and outside, he should probably get a pair every six months.  And my husband must have 5 pairs of slippers alone!  For the house, the shop, the yard, work and an extra in case UGG Australia stops making his favorite pair. Here’s an actual picture of his shoe rack in our mudroom.

But in case you haven’t noticed, UGG makes some handsome UGG Boots for men other than the UGG Classic Short mens boots. The new UGG Britton mens boots have handsome motorcycle or engineer styling.  Then take a look at the UGG Wrangell mens boots with their rugged outdoor looks.  These are great to wear for traditional male jobs like shoveling snow off the sidewalk, walking the dog in the winter and dragging the garbage cans to the curb, to name but a few.

I Kept My Cool in UGGs this Summer

Monday, October 4th, 2010

My feet lived in a pair of fuscia UGGs this summer. Yeah, yeah. I know fall is upon us and summer is a distant memory. But I didn’t think of this blog until just now as I was going through some summer pictures. My UGGs of choice were the UGG Tasmina flip-flops in that gorgeous fuscia color. They took me from Seattle to Little Torch Key, down in the Key West area. And here’s a picture of the bar we cooled off in each evening. And it would have been perfect except for the nasty little invisible sand gnats which left us scratching like a hound with fleas and our ankles covered with red bites.

But now the weather has cooled off and as I write this blog, I’m wearing my newest UGG slippers.  They’re the UGG Coquette slippers in felt gray.  I’ve previously worn two pairs of  UGG Cozy II slippers to shreds so I needed to get a new pair this year.  But guess what?  My last old pair of UGG Cozy II slippers are still downstairs in the shoe rack by the back door.  I slip them on to walk my dog down the 1/2 mile dirt road from our house to the mailbox.  As long as the road is dry, it works for me. But man, those slippers are looking dirty, tired and ready for a burial. And since I love my latest UGG slippers, here’s a picture of me wearing them as I write.

But the UGGs I really want now are the UGG Cozy Knit Slippers.  With their cozy-looking cable sweater knit uppers, just looking at them makes me feel warm and cozy.  But which color do you think will go best with a camouflage Snuggie?

How To Wear Your UGGs

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

I’ve got news for you, UGGs are not just for the young. They’re also for the young at heart, no matter what your age. Since the classic (basic) UGG boots have been around now for over 30 years, they aren’t going away. Once you get over the notion that they’re ugly, your boot world expands into the realm of warm and comfortable footwear. Aaaah, bliss. No blisters, corns or bunions from a boot.

I get older women asking what they can wear them with.  The simple answer is — EVERYTHING.  Take a page from the younger girls and celebrities who take UGGs out of the fashion box by pairing them with spring dresses to summer shorts. They aren’t fashion shy, that’s for sure.  That’s not my style, but basically, you can wear them with any of your usual casual clothing.  You don’t need to go buy anything new to wear them with. You probably have plenty of stuff in your closet already – jeans, leggings, sweat pants – it’s all good.

The best answer is to wear your UGGs with lots of attitude! Life is too short to worry about what other people will think of your fashion choices.  Besides, what I can tell from viewing New York fashion week is that anything goes.  And if it doesn’t go, that’s must be haute couture.

If you want cute UGG Boots that are guaranteed to draw looks, compliments, envy and complaints, get these new darlings: the UGG Sheepskin Cuff boots.  Personally, I think it’s wa-aay cuter than most of the Jimmy Choo UGG boots and much cheaper too! Pair it skinny jeans or leggings and that most important accessory of all — LOTS of ATTITUDE !

I Love UGGs Lexi

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

I usually rave about UGG Boots, but today I’m feeling pretty good about my new UGG Lexi slippers. I have an old pair of UGG Cozy II slippers which are on their second pair of UGG insoles. Then a few weeks ago I snagged a pair of felt gray UGG Coquette slippers to replace them. But then I saw the UGG Lexi and thought  it’s so cute with it’s sneaker sole. Had to have them. I bought them in black and wore them out of the store with my boot-cut denim jeans. After all, I was only going from the store to my car, then home. On the way home I remembered I was out of cat food. The canned kind. With three cats at home and it being dinner time, dry food isn’t enough. They are accustomed to a bit of wet also. So I went into Walmart sporting my black Lexi slippers. I kept my sunglasses on to see if anyone noticed I was wearing my slippers. NO! Not one person even glanced at my black fur collared slippers. What’s wrong with those people?

And has everyone seen the UGG – Choo boots that are out now?  Or at least they can be pre-orderd.  I was thinking I would hate all of them because I wasn’t thrilled with Nicki H’s boots.  But I actually found two pair I would wear. First is the MANDAH with two-toned studding.  Plenty of bling here. And it’s a mere $795. I’m assuming that’s for two boots, not one.

And if money truly were no matter for me and I had a few less brain cells, I would absolutely HAVE to get the blue zebra studded UGG KAIA Boots.  At $595 – they are a real steal. Really, after these, what else is there to buy for your feet?  And we all know I am full up on Louboutin and Atwood pumps.  And who the heck picked these names?  What do they really mean in Swahili?  Probably something like “stupid buyer”.

Jimmy Choo & UGG Have a Baby

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Well, the Jimmy Choo and UGG collaboration has finally given birth to the much awaited: STAR STUDDED UGG CLASSIC BOOTS. Say what? Yeah, here it is folks. Nicki Hilton was one of the first to buy these UGGs and wear them. Then of course, tweeted the universe with… “love my new Jimmy Choo UGGs”. Now, I love my UGGs as much as the next gal but I would never pay $795 for this boot. I think this is living proof that some people have more money than good sense.

This boot won’t be out for the general public until October, but Nicky managed to get her feet into a pair already. The “Chugg” boots (as they’ve been endearingly dubbed by members of the fashion industry) will be a part of the brands’ capsule collection, which was born out of Choo president Tamara  Mellon’s love for the sheepskin style. “Other than Jimmy Choos, UGGs are the only other footwear I have in my wardrobe,” said Mellon. But I have to say I kinda like the studs.  I’m thinking of taking an old pair of Chestnut UGG Classic boots I own and attempting a studded version of my own design.  I think a visit to the craft store and an ice pick will yield some spectacular results. Well, maybe not as spectacular as the star studded Choo shoes, but something interesting at any rate. And let’s not forget the dollar savings!  I can’t wait to get started.

Kate Hudson Rocks Classic Tall UGG Boots

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

I always love it when I find Hollywood celebrities rocking a great pair of UGG Boots. Have you seen these cute pictures of Kate Hudson rocking her UGG Classic Tall boots in gray? This cute picture was found in Glamour magazine in the July 2010 issue. I think it’s on page 56 if my memory is working today. How cute is this look? The trendy, fabulous, floral print romper with a pair of UGG Boots looks great, don’t you agree? I wear UGGs in the Spring because the weather in North Idaho is still cold.  It doesn’t really matter whether you live in Los Angeles or Boston,  if you haven’t tried a pretty floral romper or dress with your UGG boots, you should!

You can transition this floral romper or a floral dress into early fall by adding leggings, a jacket and a warm scarf.  There are some other UGG Boots that would work with this look.  Have you seen the new UGG Retro Cargo boot? It has a stripe up the side and a functional pocket. And of course, it’s filled with that warm, snuggly sheepskin fleece.  Another UGG boot that would look so cute with this look is the UGG Classic Cardy boots.  I’m specifically thinking of the new ones that are flecked with metallic threads.  I love-love this in gray with silver metallic. It’s just enough to catch the light and certainly spark some interest!

Hilary Swank Won’t Give Up Her UGGs

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

In the newest issue of In Style magazine there’s an article about Hilary Swank. And on the Hilary’s Essentials list is a pair of Chestnut UGG Coquette Slippers. She will never give them up and I don’t blame her. I just got a new pair in that beautiful gray felt color. My old ones were so dirty that I was embarrassed to take them with me to visit relatives in Seattle. I do love my UGG slippers!

Have you seen one of the newest UGG Boots called the Bailey Button Triplet?  I predict that this is the tall  boot that will sell out first this winter.  Of course, if I was any good at predictions I would have won a lottery or horse race by now. Or at least a $2 scratch off.

I love that the UGG Bailey Triplet  can be worn up or down with the fluffy sheepskin showing.  And I love  that it’s easier to wear over skinny jeans than the tall Classic UGG boots. It differs because of the side opening and the elastic loops for the buttons. That bit of roominess is perfect for tucking jeans in.  I already grabbed mine in that gorgeous teal color, Atlantic Blue. I also find that my bootleg jeans tuck nicely into them too.  So this is a good choice. I’m also thinking that the UGG Bailey Triplet would be a good choice for gals with bigger calves.  Sometimes women with larger calves have trouble with the UGG Classic Tall Boot and end up buying the UGG Classic Short Boots instead.  I suggest they try the UGG Triplet on for size if they really want a taller boot.
