How To Wear UGGs

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Okay, I know it sounds looney because you and I know how to wear UGG Boots. But, I get enough of these questions (since I own a store that sells sheepskin boots) that I think it’s time to mention this subject. And men, you too should also wear UGG boots because they look so laid-back. Just look how cool this guy looks in his UGGs. Follow these steps to total winter comfort:

manUggs

  1. Buy a pair of UGGs in a neutral color, such as chestnut or chocolate brown.  Black will work if you must have it but I think the browns look great with just about everything.
  2. Tuck your jeans into your boots.  Skinny works best but straight leg is also good.  For bootcut jeans just wear them over the boot.
  3. Add your winter coat, colorful scarf and gloves and even a cute knit cap.  This looks good on any age.
  4. Walk to the nearest latte stand for an eggnog latte and a chocolate chip cookie. Men, walk to the nearest bar and get a beer.

UGG Boot Tips

  • Please waterproof your boots before wearing them.  Make sure it’s designed specifically for sheepskin and suede.  Spray three light coats, making sure to let it dry between coats.  This step keeps them cleaner too.
  • You don’t have to wear socks with your UGGs.  But if you want to be sure to wear thin socks, not heavy hiking socks.
  • UGG boots are not designed to fit like regular shoes.  They are usually lose in the heel.  It’s why they’re so comfortable.  Think of them as outdoor slippers.
  • Don’t forget to walk to the nearest latte stand for an eggnog latte and a chocolate chip cookie. Men, walk to the nearest bar and get a beer.

Tiz The Season for Fake UGGs

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

Yes, it’s that time of the year again: FUGG Season. Fake UGGs. Ebay and Google are full of fake UGG boots and slippers. The unfortunate reality is that there are, for a lot of the luxury brands, counterfeit products.

Last year a woman came in to Snow River just before Christmas. She had bought a pair of UGG Boots, Classic Short in black.  She thought they “didn’t look right.”  And she was right.  They were poor imitations.  The leather was cowhide instead of sheepskin and the lining felt like fake instead of soft sheepskin fleece.  Even the box wasn’t correct.  She had been desperate for a pair of black Classic Short UGG Boots for her daughter’s Christmas present and couldn’t find them in the size needed at any dealer.  So she paid $150 for a pair off eBay. And they were fake. She lost money she couldn’t afford to lose and her daughter got a pair of subpar boots with no warranty.

If you are looking for UGG boots and UGG slippers on-line make sure that you shop at an authorized dealer like Snow River.  We’ve been in the business of selling genuine UGGs since 1985 and trust us, we know the product!

Google is now working with UGG Australia to eliminate them from their search pages, but, like cockroaches, they multiply quickly.  If you look at some of these sites you’ll see that they’re written in Chinglish and are full of errors.  Also, there will either be no physical address or no U.S. number.

If you are in the market for UGG Boots, there are a few things you can do to make sure they are real and not fake. Take a look at the website address, does the domain name include the word “UGG” or does it contain the style name in the domain address, for example, “Dakota”, if so, there is a good possibility they are counterfeit.

Something you should also know, UGG Australia does NOT authorize dealer sales on eBay, trade boards or Amazon.com. If you purchase on any of those sites you do not get the warranty nor will UGG Australia assist with trying to resolve disputes including issues with PayPal refund requests.

Katie Holmes and UGG Classic Shorts

Friday, November 20th, 2009

holmesuggsWhile watching t.v. or reading magazines I am always on the lookout for celebrities wearing UGGs. I have a collection and like to share them from time-to-time. Did y’all see this shot with Katie Holmes wearing chocolate UGG Classic Short boots? Her partner is Anna Paquin and she’s wearing UGG Classic Short boots in chestnut. Both are classic colors for the classic comfort boot. The girls  were on the set of “The Romantics” in November.

I also have a collection of pictures of women wearing fur coats on eBay, the online auction site.  I first began noticing the interesting models several years ago and some are so damned funny, I just had to have them.  Of course, you need to know I’m a fan of Southern White Trash Cooking.  So trailer-style women modeling fur coats for ebay sale are right up my alley. This has little to do with UGG boots but more to do with my observance of ordinary people doing interesting things.

UGGs Moto Chic

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Have you seen UGGs new motorcyle chic boot, the UGG Kensington boots? I flipped for it just from it’s looks but once I tried it on I had to have it. These boots have a better sole and support than the UGG Classic Short boots. If you live in cold, damp weather like I do, yet want to look cute, this is a great boot. It’s lined in soft sheepskin fleece so it’s toasty warm and the distressed leather uppers ensure better water protection.

ugg_kensingtonTough looking, practical yet femmy cute when paired with leggings, a floral dress and a leather or denim jacket.  I’m so happy to have these moto chic UGG boots.  They work great under jeans, tucked into jeans and with skirts.  I think I’m going to be wearing these for many, many years.

UGGs ~ Just Do It !

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

If you don’t own a pair of UGGs by now, the good news is that it’s not too late to buy a pair. These iconic, slipper-soft sheepskin boots went mainstream some time back and will never go out of style. In fact, they’ve become a classic as far as I’m concerned because people have been wearing UGGs in the U.S for more than 20 years.

I’ve had more than a few grandmothers come into our store, Snow River, looking to buy a pair of UGG boots for their granddaughters.  They’ll mention “I don’t know what the big deal is or why the young girls love these ugly things.”  I ask, “Have you ever tried a pair on?”.  The answer is always “NO.”  And 9 times out of 10 after they’ve tried on a pair, they buy a pair for themselves and wear them out of the store.

If you live in a cold climate, there’s just nothing better on your feet.  Whether you think they’re cute or ugly, you will fall in love with them once you try them on.  So quit sitting on the fence about whether to buy a pair of UGGs or not.  Just do it!

UGGs & Pit Bulls

Monday, November 16th, 2009

I spied UGG boots on a series called “Pit Bulls & Parolees” this week. Of course, I don’t recall which episode but it was the most recent. I saw the owner of the pit bull sanctuary wearing a pair of what looked like UGG Ultra Tall boots in chestnut. But with my bad eyes, they also could have been UGG Classic Tall boots. Then, one potential adoptee showed up wearing a pair of UGG boots Classic Tall in that delicious Mulberry color. With her jeans tucked in and a matching colored scarf she looked very cute.

AshleyTisdayUGGsUGGBootsAnd in case you didn’t know, Ashley Tisdale, teen star, was highly critized recently for wearing this “UNRULY” outfit with a pair of rolled down Sunburst Tall UGGs® as she went out to lunch in L.A. ?  Come on guys, she’s a teen and she’s cute.  Lighten up!

Let’s see, where else did I spy a pair of UGG boots this week on television? My post-menopausal brain doesn’t always cooperate in a timely manner.  I knew I should have written it down!  Well, I do remember they were UGG classic tall.  Now I think I’ll put on my UGG boots (the Ultimate Short chestnut pair) and take my dog for a walk.

Back In Black UGG Boots

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Black UGG boots are always popular but this season they seem to be more so.  I’m wondering if it’s the economy driving the color? I know from reading my fashion magazines that black is the IT color.  Even black handbags are more popular this year after a few seasons of color.  While I will always own a black bag, I can’t give up color.

At Snow River we have a great selection of black UGG boots right now but that will change dramatically after Thanksgiving.  In fact, this week we had two Canadian women come in and they each tried on every pair of black UGG boots we had in the store.  After trying on 24 pairs of boots between the two of them, the older woman bought one pair of black UGG Mayfaire boots.  It turns out her daughter had ordered a pair online (from another seller) but was just having fun trying on different boots and sizes.

Jim Cramer and UGG’s

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Mad Money’s weekly Off the Charts segment is a chance for viewers to learn comparative stock analysis, the very decision making that Jim Cramer used as a hedge-fund manager. He studies the charts to find the best stock among a group of two or more and then uses fundamental analysis as the final judge before he makes his call. And right now he’s loving UGGs In fact, on his television show he was wearing his own pair of UGG Boots and got on a table to show viewers. From what I could tell they looked like men’s UGG Classic Boots in chocolate.

Some of the reasons that Jim Cramer loves UGG boots stock is because of the loyalty and performance of their key customers and the quality of management.

Deckers sells UGGs, the popular brand that even garnered several Oprah endorsements. UGG accounts for 70% of the company’s sales, and business is good, especially with the release of new products that comes with every fall season. Jim Cramer thinks Deckers has done a great job of getting its shoes to its target customers, too.

So Remember – UGG Boots aren’t just a fashion statement for women. They are amazingly comfortable and warm for everyone. And if you’re one of Cramer’s fans, do yourself a favor and get a pair of UGG Boots so you’ll know exactly what he’s talking about

Off the topic of stock picks, I caught Jenni Pulos, of Bravo TV’s ‘Flipping Out’ looking very cute in a pair of black leggings and black UGG Cardy boots worn pulled up. I also caught one of the Housewife’s of Atlanta, Lisa Wu Hartwell lounging at home in a pair of UGG Tasman slippers in chestnut.

UGG’s For Fall

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Fall has definitely begun up here in North Idaho, and as usual, it is spectacularly beautiful. The temperature has cooled down enough in the evening and morning so that the first thing I look for is my warm UGG boots. I use a pair of Classic Short UGG Boots in burnt olive (an old color) as my main house slippers. One of the benefits of this is when I happen to forget to change shoes before I go to town to run errands, so what? I still look alright and my feet are still warm and comfortable. I’ll bet I’m not the only UGG Boots wearer who does this.

Though my burnt olive UGG boots are an old color I am definitely lusting for a new color. Have you seen the new lineup? I think it’s the most colorful selection ever. I love the Pacific blue

which is a beautiful teal color, but Eggplant could win out
UGG Classic Short Eggplant Women's Boot

UGG Classic Short Eggplant Women's Boot

as it’s so rich looking and a perfect fall color. And don’t even get me started on all of the Metallic UGG boots !

While grocery shopping this weekend I spotted a cute girl wearing black leggings tucked into a pair of Classic Tall Women’s sand color UGG Boots. When she turned away I saw that there was a big hole in the side of her left boot. It looked as if a puppy had chewed the heck out of it. So thinking quickly, I quietly introduced myself to her and handed her one of my business cards for Snow River, the UGG boots store in town. I told her I understood her love for her UGG Boots but if she’d like a new pair, I’d give her a discount for them. She laughed and said she would definitely take me up on the offer.

Now you know one of the reasons why many people choose to live in very small towns. The people are friendly.

Not Just Your Mother’s UGGs

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

Last week while visiting San Francisco with my daughter, I saw a mother and two of her daughter’s shopping in a famous department store. They were all wearing UGG boots. The mom had on a pair of chestnut classic short UGG boots, one daughter was wearing classic tall chocolate UGG boots (with jeans tucked in) and the youngest was wearing classic short gray UGG boots. I thought, “hmmm, there’s about 25 years here between the mom and the youngest, yet they’re all wearing UGGs. ” What that told me was something I’ve always known but it’s always interesting to see. And that something is that UGGs are not a fad. They aren’t going away. So all you people out there who hate UGG boots, who think they’re ugly and wish they would go away … Get over it ! Have you seen those ads for jeans labeled “Not Your Mother’s Jeans”? Well, I thought of that when I saw the mom and her daughters. Not your mother’s UGGs.

Then my daughter and I an uncontrollable urge for more of the fabulous lattes from the little hole-in-the-wall Italian coffee shop we found. So off we went. I, by the way, was wearing a pair of UGG Bettey shoes. I wore them all over the city for three days, never got blisters or even noticed my feet. That’s pretty comfortable in my book.
