Check Out The New UGG Gael Clog

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

After checking out the new UGGs in the Surf line, I just got my UGG Gael Clogs from Snow River and haven’t taken them off. I wore the wooden clogs in the ’70s and am not about to revisit them but I love the comfort of clogs and wedges. So the UGG Gael clog works perfectly for me.  And since I’m only 5′, the 2 1/2″ lift I get means I don’t have to hem new jeans. The Gael is from the UGG Surf line which has the cork infused rubber soles with memory foam footbeds.

I’d say that about 80% of the women who try on anything from this line  in our store end up wearing them right out the door.  These are the shoes that need no breaking-in period.

Oh yeah, we also have a few more new UGGs in the Surf line: the UGG Kana clogs, UGG Oleander shoes and the UGG Caspia boots. The Oleander is a slip-on shoe with cute D-ring detailing while the Kana is the clog version with just a slight heel. The Caspia is a short boot replacing the popular UGG Cove boots.  You can’t go wrong with any of them.

These UGG shoes and UGG boots are perfect for fall.  Wear them with socks, leggings or pants.

Not Just Your Mother’s UGGs

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

Last week while visiting San Francisco with my daughter, I saw a mother and two of her daughter’s shopping in a famous department store. They were all wearing UGG boots. The mom had on a pair of chestnut classic short UGG boots, one daughter was wearing classic tall chocolate UGG boots (with jeans tucked in) and the youngest was wearing classic short gray UGG boots. I thought, “hmmm, there’s about 25 years here between the mom and the youngest, yet they’re all wearing UGGs. ” What that told me was something I’ve always known but it’s always interesting to see. And that something is that UGGs are not a fad. They aren’t going away. So all you people out there who hate UGG boots, who think they’re ugly and wish they would go away … Get over it ! Have you seen those ads for jeans labeled “Not Your Mother’s Jeans”? Well, I thought of that when I saw the mom and her daughters. Not your mother’s UGGs.

Then my daughter and I an uncontrollable urge for more of the fabulous lattes from the little hole-in-the-wall Italian coffee shop we found. So off we went. I, by the way, was wearing a pair of UGG Bettey shoes. I wore them all over the city for three days, never got blisters or even noticed my feet. That’s pretty comfortable in my book.

UGGs and Switzerland

I thought you might like to meet Gina the Wonder Dog. She’s the store Welcome Ambassador. Gina is a Corgi/rat terrier mix we adopted from the local no-kill animal shelter about six years ago. When she hears the bells on the front door jingle she goes out front to sniff everyone’s feet (she’s built low to the ground) and cadge a bit of petting. Then, since she’s about 12 years old now, it’s back to the office to snooze some more.

Last week my local dermatologist came in with her family to stock up on UGG boots and UGG slippers. She had sold her medi-spa and has the opportunity to move to Switzerland while her husband works over there. Knowing that it gets cold in Switzerland, they all came in to buy UGG footwear. For herself she bought a pair of Ultra Tall UGG boots in chestnut and a pair of black Gaviotas.  Her husband got the men’s UGG Classic Short boots in chestnut and a pair of Scuff Romeo UGG slippers.  For her UGG boots, the older teenage daughter chose the UGG Knightsbridge tall boots with the zipper and the young teen daughter bought UGG Sunburst Tall boots and then each got a new pair of the Coquette UGG slippers.  With everyone happy with their warm UGG boots and UGG slippers, we know they’ll enjoy their family adventure in Switzerland and will have warm, comfortable footwear while doing it.
